“It’s that Time of Year” Cheryl Green Rosario – congregant

Tis the season of gathering with friends and family, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Whether we reflected on our many blessings during Thanksgiving, already baking our holiday cookies to share at a cookie exchange or well into our preparations for Christmas Day, it’s a time we look forward to spending with our loved ones.

A friend recently sent me a passage from Hebrews 10:24-25 – “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

I love this verse because it reminds us how important it is to come together with others, surround ourselves with people who care and lift us up. I challenge us not only to do this during special occasions like Thanksgiving or Christmas or to celebrate someone’s birthday but to truly gather in unity to share our struggles as well as our successes. In this sharing with others we often find strength and hope.

First Baptist Church of Westfield has always been a place where people have gathered and then went out to the community to share that love with others.  During Advent to Christmas, you are invited to come to the following special services:

   Children’s Pageant on Sunday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, December 24 at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to our Sunday morningservice at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school for elementary age children, here are some of the additional ways we gather as a church and to which all are welcome:

Agape Potluck Lunch – Every last Sunday of the month.

Bible Study – Every Wednesday at noon.

Men’s Breakfast – Third Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m.

Youth Group – Sunday evenings at 5 p.m.

Church gathered/scattered days of service two times a year.

Ongoing Seminars – Various seminars on issues like health, financial management, parenting and more.
